Codex Leicester Interactives 2007:
The Chester Beatty Library approached X Communications to discuss developing interactive presentations that would explain both the production and contents of the manuscript. presentation was discussed which would complement the exhibition design and also make the manuscript more accessible to visitors. Several translations are available of the text of the notebook and the plan was to make these translations available to visitors on the interactive installations. View our Case Study >>
Meteor Mobile Communications 2005:
X Communications designed and developed an interactive price calculator for Meteor. This touch-sceen application is currently installed in a number of Meteor retail outlets including Grafton St and Henry St. The system asks the user a number of questions regarding their mobile phone usage and current costs and makes a recommendation based on the users inputs. The system acts as an alternative sales assistant with the goal of encouraging the user to switch to the meteor network and recommending the tariff option most suited to the user's needs.
Irish Life & Permanent Plc:
XCommunications was commissioned to design and develop an interactive application to promote Irish Life's e-scope product range. The key functionality was to develop a recommendation system for potential clients on the best product to suit their individual requirements. X Communications developed the application using Macromedia Flash.
Trinity College Library -The Book of Kells:
The Book of Kells touchscreen interactive contains a digitised version of every page of the Book of Kells along with 29 explanatory videos. One of the key features of the interactive is the ability to examine every page in detail using a specially developed zoom tool.
Joyce and Ulysses, National Library of Ireland
Winner of a bronze bell for Interactive Design at the ICAD awards 2004
X Communications worked with the National Library and Orna Hanley Architects to provide six interactive touch screen presentation as part of the James Joyce and Ulysses Exhibition marking the centenary of Bloomsday in 2004. Each piece was created with a distinct design style tailored to the information to be presented on screen. X Communications design team also produced graphic design panels for the exhibition.
Image Gallery, Chester Beatty Library
X Communications has produced a number of interactive presentations for the Chester Beatty Library including the award winning Chogonka scrolls CD. The Image Gallery presents a selection of over 100 images from the Library's collection. Two interactives previously produced by X Communications were included in a combined interactive area in the Sacred Traditions gallery at the Library.
Francis Bacon Studio, Hugh Lane Gallery
An interactive version of the Francis Bacon Studio was developed allowing visitors to view individual studio items in detail and navigate the studio. The interactive installations also tell the story of Bacon's relationship to Ireland and how the studio was donated to the gallery.
City Hall, Dublin: August 2000
Working in conjunction with Orna Hanly Architect, X Communications was commissioned to design and develop five touchscreen installations for Dublin's premier tourist centre, City Hall. The challenge was to create a unique and exciting interactive history of Dublin, detailing its development over the last one thousand years.
